Are chapulines (grasshoppers) the new protein!? In Oaxaca you will see grasshoppers, worms, scorpions, and insects dried and covered in sal, limon, y chile in all the mercados. This is a popular snack for the locals and a curious attraction for the tourists! I too, indulged in some chapulines. They actually tasted not too shabby! I love anything covered in sal, limon, y chile 😉 You can eat chapulines by themselves, over some fruit, as a snack or in a taco! They say chapulines are going to be the future protein.
